Green is the New Black

As new seasons come and go, certain colors become especially trendy. Typically when we think of summer we imagine pastels, neons and florals as being on trend, whereas fall is the season of neutrals and earth tones. However, this summer army and olive greens made a huge splash in the fashion scene. As soon as this color was featured on runways, I immediately fell in love. This love affair then led me to wonder... will this color stick around through fall and winter? The answer to that question is that army and olive greens don't seem to be going out of style anytime soon. Rather, these shades of green seem to be getting more and more popular as the seasons progress.

So why is this color so stinking popular? It has packed up all of its belongings and has moved into what I like to call neutral-ville. Army green, or olive green, goes with everything - black, brown, grey, metallics, any other neutral you can think of, and even pairs well with other colors and patterns! I like to think that this shade of green has even started moving into the territory that is the color black. Why wear black, when you can introduce army green into your wardrobe? Especially since army GREEN is technically now both a color and a neutral tone. Yes, black is a classic color that will never disappear from our wardrobes, and certainly shouldn't. After all, I love the color black (or lack of color). However, for a girl that doesn't particularly wear a lot of color, this is a great way to dip my toes in the color pond.

I even love the color army green for all seasons, except for maybe spring, but if I found the right outfit, I wouldn't rule out wearing this color all year round. Style tip: please for the love of God do not wear brown and black or navy and black together. Those are BIG fashion no no's, maybe even bigger of a no than wearing white after Labor Day (unless you're rocking the winter white on white outfit trend). So instead... rock army green with any of your neutral pieces to avoid this fashion faux pas. To whoever out there in our fashion universe decided that this color would officially take over, I worship you.
