Becoming Basic
Unless you literally live under a rock, you've seen how incredibly popular the Adidas Superstar sneakers have become. Being that I wore these shoes in Elementary and Middle school, I swore to myself that I would never again own another pair. I essentially promised to (metaphorically of course) leave them on the playground. Well ladies and gentleman I broke this promise, and I did so willingly. A few weeks ago a friend of mine was ordering a few pairs for her sister and introduced me to the magical and oh so mythical, rose gold Adidas Superstar. I almost died, because well, I love rose gold. So for weeks I have tried to forget about these beauties, and tried to adhere to the solemn vow I had made to myself so many years before. But my will power was simply not strong enough I suppose, or they drew me in with some kind of sorcery, or maybe I just really liked them and said screw it.
I couldn't resist their temptation any longer. They were only $79.99, they were PINK, I got a 20% discount on them, and they are super comfy - win, win, win, win. So I officially am one of the most basic bitches in all of the land, now that I have succumbed to societal peer pressure and the trend that is the Adidas Superstar. But do I care? Honestly, not in the slightest. I have already begun thinking about what kind of outfits I can pair with my new sneakers. I love them so much because they literally go with everything. Some workout clothes? Sure! Jeans and a sweater? Definitely. A flow sundress? DUH. Slacks and a button down? Why the heck not.
If you don't have a pair already, I say order some already. According to Women's Wear Daily, the "athleisure" and sneakers trend is going to die out in 2017. If this happened, I think I would be one of the most sad people on the face of the earth. 1. I love leggings, 2. I own way too much Lululemon, and 3. I'd cry if it was officially not trendy to be able to wear sneakers anymore. But trends are all about what us average people are buying and wearing. So as long as we don't give in, our Adidas Superstars will never go out of style, at least not for some time. As Adidas says, "Superstar is NOT a trend," it's a lifestyle. #SneakersForever
Before I became interested in my rose gold pair, I honestly didn't even know they came in anything other than the classic, white with black stripes. Turns out they actually come in a crazy amount of colors and patterns, and you can even customize your own pair! Since I know I have officially convinced you to invest in a pair of Superstars, to make your purchase even easier, I have provided you with some links and pictures of pairs I 100% think everyone needs in their life.
Do you already have your very own pair of Superstars? Well then, I guess we are officially happily basic together.
Xoxo,
