With spring right around the corner, so many trends for this season are popping out left and right. It has been hard to even think about saying goodbye to all of my favorite chunky sweaters, but I have begun to accept that it can't be winter forever. At least, not in the great state of Texas. As shopping is my favorite pastime, and the hobby I am best at, I have always loved pre-shopping certain seasons. Particularly winter and spring. Why? So that I can get some of my favorite pieces for the next season before they start selling out, and before everyone else hops on the bandwagon. But, it is crucial to think about what will still be in style next year and even for more than one season before investing in a piece. If you don't think about this, then you are essentially impulse shopping. For spring 2017, there are a lot of trends that are popular, but for all you lovely readers, I have narrowed them down to my 5 absolute favorites. Each of these are a good investment for your wardrobe in the longterm, and are stylish as hell. So, you're welcome.
1. Mule Loafers:
The daughter of the mule and the loafer has all of a sudden taken the fashion world by storm. Brands such as Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, Gucci, and many others have created their own version of this beauty. I personally am about to invest in the rose gold pair you see below. It embodies a few spring trends all in one amazing shoe. Wear these with jeans, slacks, a babydoll dress... either way you will look so totally in style this season.
2. Silk:
Silk dresses, skirts, and shells were very popular this winter. What makes this trend updated for spring, is the new selection of colors and romantic styles that will be available. Of the colors I've seen so far for this trend, I am in love with the midnight blue-navy's, the soft pinks, and the taupes/beiges with hints of metallics. Vince. has some jaw dropping silk pieces coming out this spring that I am beyond excited for, you can check them out and pre-order on their website now.
3. Pink:
I love pink year round - baby pink, fuchsia, magenta, pinky nudes, rose, hot pink, you name it I probably like it, it is my favorite color after all. However, sometimes I find it hard to integrate pink into my every day wardrobe, especially since pink is typically defined as a spring/summer color. So I am particularly excited that this color just so happened to be on every major runway for spring. I plan on buying as much pink as possible this season, how about you?
4. Work Wear:
Now that I am Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, or any other of your favorite designers. I guarantee this trend makes an appearance.officially an adult (bleh!) I have been introduced to trousers and blazers. I never in a million years would have thought that I would love blazers, but I have actually found some real stunners recently. Blazers and slacks can be super boring and basic, but I like to take some tips from European women. In Paris and London, blazers and cropped trousers are major wardrobe staples, and not just for work. Women actually wear them as fashion statements and are reinventing work wear. This spring, designers have gone out of their way to make work clothing trendy again, and they really have me drooling over some their pieces. If you have time, look into the spring fashion shows from
5. Florals:
I'm sure you're thinking... floral prints seem like a pretty obvious trend for spring, right? Well, this year you will see a lot of florals, but in different tones and color palettes than previous spring seasons. While the typical, brightly colored flower power fabric will make an appearance, I am much more pumped for the muted floral patterns in nudes, black and white, light pinks, and any other neutral tones. So essentially the floral trend will be blending with winters neutral color palette, to make simple and trendy pieces, in more classic fabrics and patterns.
If you couldn't already tell, my favorite trends for spring this year are understated and feminine, while still remaining timeless. Basically, these trends, and others, such as: stripes, army green (YAY!), all white, and sporty spice moments, are more than just a fad. I personally can't wait to rock them for many more springs to come. But in the mean time, I need to go shopping.
Peace out, ladies!
Xoxo,
