Do Comfortable Heels Exist?
The word comfortable and heels do not typically go in the same sentence, unless you're a woman that is seriously in denial. When we wear heels, we are doing so for looks, certainly not for comfort. But, this idea of choosing sex appeal over feet that aren't throbbing in pain is just cruel, and pretty darn sexist if you ask me. I mean come on, what straight man would you find caught dead in heels? Yes, they aren't the slightest bit manly, but men also understand that they are essentially death traps in the form of shoes. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of heels in my closet that I am in love with and would risk crying (metaphorically, of course) all night from the pain, just to complete an outfit. But should we have to choose looking hot over being comfortable? HELL NO! We live in the 21st century. The least fashion designers could do is make a heel that is truly comfortable, like come on... is it that hard?
While sneakers and flats are taking over the fashion world at this very moment, heels will never go out of style. Why? Because we all have at least one outfit, if not more, that just doesn't look as good with flats. And for that very reason, I thank God everyday that chunky heels are coming back in style. This type of heel is the closest we have come to "comfortable" in the heel department, since probably the clunky, ugly, crappy shoes women wore in the 70's. I will always have a place in my heart for a knock out pair of stilettos, but how practical are they for anything other than date night, fashion week, or the red carpet? I am constantly on my feet during the day, so anything other than a chunky heel or flat makes my feet cringe and want to run away from my body ASAP.
Finding a fabulous pair of heels is a task in itself, but finding a stunning pair that are comfy always seems nearly impossible for us females, until now. Thanks to block heels, I can officially stand for more than 4 hours without wanting to chop my feet off. But even better than that, a chunky heel is seen as being just as sexy and versatile as a sky scraper pump. The only difference is the obviously, slightly thicker heel, and an amazingly wonderful increased level of comfort.
I personally am so thankful for this trend, because it has introduced a wider range of heels to the market and my wardrobe. Yes, you can still find stilettos, platform pumps, and any other skinny heel your heart desires, but you can now also find chunky strappy heels, booties, knee high boots, pointed toe pumps, sandals, and so many other new, readily available styles, for every season! Fashion can now be gorgeous and comfortable, and I am forever grateful! As this heel has become more and more popular once again, it has begun to take over my closet, my favorite department stores, and the runways of all the most major brands, proving that this style is back and here to stay. Thank you fashion God's!
