Best and Worst of The Oscars
The Oscars is one of the biggest nights of the year, other than perhaps the Super Bowl, for average American people and of course, for all of Hollywood's celebrities. While I love watching this awards show, and feel as though it is the only awards ceremony of the year that matters, I spend most of my time watching it and critiquing what everyone is wearing on the red carpet. Whether I watch The Oscars with friends or family, we always end up in a discussion over who's outfits we love and who's we absolutely hate. I like to think that we run our very own little "Fashion Police- Best and Worst Dressed at The Oscar's" segment.
I am very opinionated in general, but even more so when it comes to outfit choices of celebrities. Mostly because they have tons of money, and therefore should wear great fashion pieces at all times. So, in honor of the Academy Awards from last night, I want to discuss my favorite and least favorite looks from both this year's and last year's Oscars! Let the judgement begin.
2016 BEST DRESSED:
Saris Ronan in Calvin Klein Collection / Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
2016 WORST DRESSED:
Heidi Klum in Marchesa / Cate Blanchett in Georgio Armani Prive
2017 BEST DRESSED:
Emma Stone in Givenchy Haute Couture / Viola Davis in Armani / Brie Larson in Oscar de la Renta / Darby Stanchfield in Georges Chakra Couture / Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph & Russo / Jessica Biel in Kaufman Franco
2017 WORST DRESSED:
Leslie Mann in Zac Posen / Janelle Monae in Elie Saab Couture / Ruth Nega in Custom Valentino
The Oscars this year were filled with a ridiculous amount of beautiful fashion, so much so that it was hard to choose just 6 of my favorites for my best dressed list. Major props to the women that made it onto this list - seriously, y'all killed the red carpet. On the other hand, the ladies on my worst dressed list... well, let's just say there is always next year to make some improvements. Janelle Monae and Ruth Nega's dresses received a lot of mixed reviews last night. Many major fashion critics put them on their best dressed lists, but this critic definitely does not agree. All I can say is these three women need to fire their stylists for future awards shows, and need to do it ASAP! Ain't nobody trying to go onto the red carpet looking like Belle in a garbage bag, a victorian steam punk princess, or a frumpy red pilgrim.
Yet another Academy Awards ceremony has come and gone, I hope you all had just as much fun watching the Oscars this year as I did! I am already excited for next year's movie and fashion extraordinaire.
Xoxo,
The Chronic Window Shopper
